When deciding on how to build your content one of the things you will have to consider is how you actually want to develop it. Do you want to build content the graphical way (WYSIWYG), or code it out by hand using HTML? Most people choose the WYSIWYG method, I decided to go ahead and learn HTML which laid the groundwork for my later programming projects.
What is HTML and WYSIWYG?
These are both acronyms, HTML stands for 'Hyper Text Markup Language', and WYSIWYG stands for 'What You See Is What You Get'. Either of these methods work fine for building basic web content although knowing HTML will make your job much, much easier when problems arise. Also, knowing the basics to web programming will help you add interesting and interactive effects to your content.
Where to go from here?
If you have decided to learn to build your web content the graphical way then I would choose Nvu for my HTML editor as it is free.
